I have been making ceramics now for over 40 years, in addition to lecturing and writing, and I am now working full-time in my studio.
I am currently working with different Porcelain clays using both throwing and hand-building processes. Decoration is inspired by the landscape of the North, in particular the walls, moors and qualities of light and space.
Decoration involves gradually building a surface with slips, resists, sponging, and drawing into the clay. Work is then fired to 1280 centigrade in a gas kiln.
My work has been exhibited widely in the UK, and also in Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand, and is held in many private and public collections, including Hanley Museum, Stoke on Trent.
I am a recent Chair of the Northern Potters Association, and a Fellow and Council member of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain.
